Using the Internet to Search for Your New Home

Categories: Home Buying Tips | Posted: July 24, 2012

Life can get hectic, and the thought of searching for that perfect new Royal Oaks home – or any other new property – can feel overwhelming at times. Using the web can be a great way to save time and receive valuable information before getting in the car and driving to view a potential home. Consider these tips and best practices for taking advantage of the internet in your initial search for your new Royal Oaks home:

  • Begin your search with a broad list of criteria. As you view various websites, you will begin to narrow your focus coming up with your top homes to view in person. Decide on your price point range, then determine the most important features you want emphasized in your review. Is it location, lot size, school district, or other factors and amenities that you consider essential for your new home? Keeping these considerations in mind will help you avoid driving aimlessly all over Wake, Harnett or Cumberland County wasting time, gas and your patience.
  • Visit builder websites such as for more accurate and up-to-date information. General home-finder websites are an excellent resource for broad searches, but are not frequently maintained directly by the builder so the information is often outdated. In contrast, we offer the “Your Favorites” vertical tab on the right side of our pages that allow you to mark any property you like so that you can refer back to it while reviewing other listings. You can log those favorites as well either through our Facebook page or your own email account with Royal Oaks.
  • View floor plans, photos and virtual tours. Our mobile website will allow you to research new homes at your convenience. The Royal Oaks website will allow you to personalize your floor plan and add the options of your choice, save it to your “favorites” to view later and even email to friends or family.
  • Do not be afraid to communicate with the online sales consultant. At Royal Oaks, our internet concierge is solely dedicated to assist you before you visit one of our Raleigh or Fayetteville communities. You can communicate by phone, email or even online chat.  When you select your desired communities, we can arrange the times for you so you do not have to wait in line. Need a recommendation for lenders? We can provide you with that information, too.
  • Find out what other people are saying about their experiences. Watch a video or two on Royal Oaks YouTube page and visit our Facebook page to learn more. Read comments from other people and ask them how they feel about going through the homebuilding process. Follow your favorites on Twitter for news on community and area events, contests and photos.
